Other comments on the Evaluation

We recommend students
to sit for continuous evaluation since it is the system more likely to achieve success in
passing the subject.

1.  GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

The course has
a practical orientation. Therefore,
to be able to follow lectures, students must  possess a B1 level of the
English language. At the end of the four-month period, students must achieve
the B1.2. level to pass the course.

1.1.  The final mark of the subject will be calculated taking into
account all the skills learned and practiced during the four-month period,
according to the following percentages:

Communicative skills: Listening comprehension: 30%; Speaking: 30%.

Linguistic skills: Grammar and
vocabulary (Use of English): 40%.

Therefore, summing
the percentages of both parts, theory and practice will add up to 100%.

1.2.  To pass the subject, students must achieve a minimum qualification
of 5 points as a global mark; being
4 points the minimum mark required in skills. Nonetheless the sum of all marks
must be at least of mark 5 (pass). Students, sitting for continuous assessment, who in the first edition
of the academic transcript score a qualification of non-pass in one or more skills
must repeat the failed part(s) of the skill(s) during June/July’s exam in 2020 to
pass the subject. Students sitting for final assessment must repeat the whole examination, regardless if they have passed any part previously.

1.3.  Teachers will not consider the final
exam in December/January as an opportunity for
resitting the part(s) of the skill(s) failed during continuous evaluation.  In case of not achieving a pass in July 2020, students
must register again in the subject and resit for all examinations. Therefore,
the skills passed will lack of validation for forthcoming courses to the academic
year of 2019-2020.

1.4.  The total or partial
plagiarism in any type
of assignment or activity will be an automatic
non-pass in the subject.
Alleging ignorance concerning the meaning of plagiarism, will not exempt
students from their responsibility in this aspect.

1.5. Dictionaries, notes or any
electronic device (mobile phones, tablets, computers, etc.) are not allowed
during lectures
or examinations.

2. FIRST EDITION TRANSCRIPT OF ACADEMIC RECORD (January 2020)

There are two evaluation systems (continuous and final)
to obtain
a pass in the subject.  By
choosing one system, students will not be allowed to participate in the other
one. So taking part in the system of continuous evaluation, means the
impossibility to take part in the other system and the other way round.

2.1.  Continuous evaluation

2.1.1.  Students will deliver a student
file with their data of contact and photograph during the three first weeks of
the four-month period. Their participation will be essential in the different assessments
that will be performed along the four-month period and sit for examinations in on the dates previously established.
Students who do not take part in the examinations will achieve a 0 (zero). The evaluation, continuous or final,
will take into account not only appropriateness, but also the quality of the
answers, and the linguistic correction.

2.1.2. Those students
belonging to continuous evaluation and who failed part(s) of the skills can
resit for the specific skills to obtain a pass during the second academic
transcript of June/July 2020.

2.1.3. It is compulsory to carry out dos examations for listening and two speaking each with a value of 30% of the final mark. Likewise, students must undergo two examinations
concerning the linguistic contents of grammar and vocabulary (Use of English)
that count up to 40% of the final mark. Examination dates will be published on
the platform Faitic.

2.1.4. For obtaining a pass in this subject, it is necessary to score a
minimum mark of 5 points as a global mark; being 4 points the minimum mark
required in skills. Nonetheless the sum of all marks must be at least of mark 5
(pass).

2.1.5. Examination dates, to be carried out during lectures, are as follow:

LISTENING: Weeks 6 e 11 (during practicals hours).

SPEAKING:  Weeks 7 e 12 (during practicals hours).

USE OF ENGLISH: Weeks 7 e 12 (during theory hours).

2.2.   Final examination

2.2.1. The final examination of the first four-month period will take place
at date officially established by the faculty authorities. We recommend
students to check the official examination dates on the faculty’s website page http://fft.uvigo.es/es/.

2.2.2. The percentages taking into account for the different skills in
the final examination are as follow:

Communicative skills: Listening: 30% and speaking: 30%.

Linguistic skill:

Grammar and
vocabulary (Use of English): 40%.

3.
SECOND EDITION TRANSCRIPT OF ACADEMIC RECORD (June/July 2020)

3.1.
The final examination, officially
established by the faculty authorities for June/July’s examination period (check
website page http://fft.uvigo.es/es/),
 will
 evaluate
students in listening, speaking, and Use of English. The percentages of
each of the skills will be the same than for those on the first edition of
academic record. Therefore, to pass this subject, students must score a minimum
mark of 5 points as a global mark; being 4 points the minimum mark required in
skills. Nonetheless the sum of all marks must be at least of mark 5 (pass). Adding up all the percentages for communicative
skills (60%) and for linguistic skills (40%) will result in 100% of the final mark
to be obtained.

3.2.
 It is students’
responsibility to consult the platform Faitic in order to be updated about any
learning material or any news concerning examination dates uploaded onto this
platform.

4.
The same criteria, here described,
will also apply to students from other countries. In case of impediment to
access onto the platform FAITIC, students must contact teachers to solve this
problem. We recommend students to possess a B1 level (Common European Framework Frame of
Reference for Languages) of the English language for easily following lectures and coursework.
