Other comments on the Evaluation

The students who choose the virtual or
distance mode can follow the subject through the “Curso Virtual” in the virtual
teaching platform Moodle, from the University of Vigo. Here they can access to
the necessary materials to acquire the competences and achieve the learning
results, both in the theoretical and practical contents. The teaching
methodologies and the evaluation activities will be specified, as well as the
submission calendar (on-site lesson and distance learning). Activities that require
the presence of the student will be replaced by others that allow to achieve
the same grade percentage. The individual progress of the student involvement
through the ITC will be done by means of the platform tools (involvement,
access statistics, fulfil online tests and exercises, etc.). The use of the
materials available via Moovi by the students must respect the copyright
regulations and those test or exams that “copy in essence the works from
others, rendering them as their own” (DLE-RAE) will be graded with a zero (the
lowest grade).

All the lectures from the professor and
the practical lessons (when possible) will be recorded. The recordings will be available
for the students in the platform MooVi, where they can watch them whenever they
consider it appropriate.

The student must fulfil the minimum assistance
requirements to benefit from the continuous evaluation. Besides they must
attend the tests that the professor considers necessary. The attendance to the
theoretical and practical lessons will be quantified (10%), either on-site in
the classroom or in the virtual recordings of the lessons in MooVi.

To pass the subject (and have a weighted
average with the evaluation of the practical exercises) it is necessary to
obtain a grade equal or higher than 4 in the exam (mid-term exams or final
exam). Besides it is necessary to submit a significant enough part of the
practical activities, to obtain a grad equal or higher than 3. The same
conditions apply for the second examination sitting.

The evaluation of the field trio (10% in
the final grade): the attendance to the trip is enough to pass the activity (5
points). The other half of the grade (5 points) will rely in the submission and
evaluation of a review about the visited archaeological sited. For those
students that do NOT participate in the trip: the submission and evaluation (10
points) of a review about an ON-SITE alternative trip (minimum 2 relevant
archaeological sites of their choice)

Beside the continuous evaluation, the
general norm for the on-site and virtual students, all the students can opt to
be evaluated via a “global evaluation” mode. The choice must be communicated to
the professor of the subject within 31 days from the beginning of the term (art
19.4 del Regulamento sobre a avaliación, a calificación e a calidade da
docencia e do proceso de aprendizaxe do estudantado
, de la Universidad de
Vigo). The global evaluation test will be done by means of:

-     A traditional written exam (short questions +
explanation of a topic to choose between two). Weight of a 50% from the total
grade. The student must achieve in a grade equal or higher than 4 to be averaged
with the practical part.

-      Submission
of a written bibliographic work about a subject related to Roman or Greek archaeology,
agreed with the professor, with a minimum extent of 20 pages and a maximum of
30 pages, including the graphic materials (maps, plans, photos, drawings) inserted
in the text, and references. It is mandatory to consult and reference at least
5 specific bibliographic refrences about the selected site or subject. The
weight of the work is a 50% of the final grad. The work must be grade equal or
higher than 3 to be averaged with the exam.

The final grade will be the arithmetic
mean between the exam and the work. The global evaluation tests will rule both
in the ordinary sitting of June and the extraordinary sitting of July.
