FIRST OPPORTUNITY (January):

a) Continuous Assessment Modality

Continuous assessment will be carried out during the period in which the course is taught.

In this modality, all evaluation components are mandatory. Each contributes to the final grade as follows:

  1. Initial Report of the Project: At the beginning of the project, the student will submit a first report detailing the objectives of the work, the resources, and the execution plan. The suitability of the chosen topic and the feasibility of its manufacturing using the resources available in the mechanical workshop of the IPF Area at the EEI Campus site must be demonstrated. (10% of the final grade).

  2. Final Report of the Project: This document will constitute the final project report, including calculations, drawings, process sheets, costs, etc. (30% of the final grade).

  3. Manufacturing: The student must manufacture the product that is the subject of the project in the laboratories of the IPF Area at the EEI Campus site. (40% of the final grade).

  4. Presentation of the Project: After submitting the Final Report, the student will make a public presentation of the project. (20% of the final grade).

To pass the course in the first opportunity by continuous assessment, the student must achieve at least 40% in each of the components listed above.

If the student does not reach this minimum in any of the continuous assessment tests or, even if they do, does not achieve an overall grade of at least 5 out of 10, the student will be considered to have failed the course and will have to take the Second Opportunity (June/July session).

If a student fails to meet the minimum in any continuous assessment component, but the total sum of scores exceeds 5 out of 10, the final record will still show 4.9

b) Global Evaluation Modality

Students who opt out of the continuous assessment methodology and instead follow the global evaluation methodology will be assessed solely on the basis of the following:

  1. Final Project Report: This report, which will serve as the final documentation of the project, must include calculations, drawings, process sheets, cost estimates, etc. (40% of the final grade).

  2. Manufacturing: The student must manufacture the product that is the subject of the project in the laboratories of the IPF Area on the EEI Campus site. (40% of the final grade).

  3. Project Presentation: After submitting the Final Report, the student will make a public presentation of the project. (20% of the final grade).

To pass the course in the first grading session through global evaluation, the student must score at least 40% on each of the above components.

If the student does not meet this minimum in any of the evaluation components, or despite meeting it, does not obtain a minimum overall mark of 5 out of 10, they will be considered to have failed the course and must take the Second Opportunity (June/July session).

If the student fails to meet the minimum in any evaluation component, but the overall score adds up to more than 5 out of 10, their grade will be recorded as 4.9.

SECOND OPPORTUNITY (June/July):

In the Second Opportunity, all students will be assessed according to the guidelines established in the “b) Global Evaluation” modality of the First Opportunity.

Ethical Commitment:
Students are expected to display appropriate ethical behavior, as defined in Articles 39, 40, 41, and 42 of the Regulations on Evaluation, Grading, and the Quality of Teaching and Learning, approved in the University Senate on April 18, 2023. Should any unethical behavior be detected (copying, plagiarism, use of unauthorized electronic devices, etc.), the student will be considered not to meet the necessary requirements to pass the course. In such cases, the overall grade for the current academic year will be a fail (0.0).

In the event of discrepancies between the different linguistic versions of the syllabus, the Spanish version shall prevail.
