Other comments on the Evaluation

First edition of records:

1. Continuous assessment:

In the continuous assessment option, the compulsory parameters described in 'Assessment' (with their proposed percentage of the final grade) will apply. This assessment system requires regular attendance and active participation in the seminars.

To pass the course students must obtain a minimum of 5 (out of 10) in each of the components of the assesment system. Students will have the opportunity to retake the failed part(s) in the second edition of records.

2. Students with an official exemption of class attendance:

Students with official exemption must inform the lecturer(s) preferably in the first session of the course and, in any case, no later than the third week of the term. These students will be assessed by means of self-assessment tests via Moovi, which will account for 20% of their final mark, as well as an essay and an exam, both worth 40% of the final mark.

To pass the course, students must obtain a minimum of 5 (out of 10) in each of the components of the assesment system. Students will have the opportunity to retake the failed part(s) in the second edition of records.

Second edition of records:

Students who fail some (of the) compulsory component(s) of the course in the first edition of records will have the opportunity to retake that/those part(s) in this second edition. If they fail the essay in the first edition of records, they must submit a new proposal in this second opportunity. With regard to the continuous assessment activities (presentation, discussion forums and problem solving), students will have to take a written exam on a date agreed with the lecturer(s).

To pass the course students must obtain a minimum of 5 (out of 10) in the exam and the essay.

Important remarks:

The assessment will take into account not only the content of the students' activities, but also the accuracy in the use of terms and concepts related to ESP; the rigour, originality and clarity in the presentation of their arguments and research proposal; punctuality in the realisation of the tasks, and the use of a correct and appropriate academic style, both oral and written.

In accordance with Articles 40-42 of the Regulation on the evaluation, grading and quality of teaching and the student learning process, approved by the University Senate on April 18, 2023,

Fraudulent action in any assessment activity will result in a zero (fail) final grade in the corresponding assessment opportunity, regardless of the grade of that activity in the overall grade of the course and without prejudice to the possible consequences of disciplinary nature that may occur.

Alleging ignorance of the implications and consequences of plagiarism or any other type of academic fraud will not exempt students from their responsibility in this regard.
