This subject is part of Mathematics and is taught in the first semester of the first course. The others subjects of the Mathematics are: Mathematical Analysis for Computer Science, in the first semester of the first course, Linear Algebra for Computer Science, in the second semester of the first course and Statistics, in the first semester of the second course. In the subject Mathematical basics for IT competences of discrete mathematics and logic are acquired, a large part of them being fundamental for the others subjects of the Mathematics.
The subject has the character of basic training. It provides the mathematical base to many of the disciplines of Computer Engineering, including data structure, algorithms, programming, database theory, automata theory, formal languages, compiler theory, computer security and operating systems.
