Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The use of AI tools is permitted in this course as long as it is done ethically, responsibly, transparently. For this purpose, students must:
- Use AI as a support for learning, not as a substitute for critical thinking or personal work.
- Critically review all activities before completing or submitting them, since the ultimate responsibility for the task or activity lies with the student.
- Properly cite any AI-generated content, including the prompts used and the responses obtained, following the APA citation style (7th edition).
- Avoid using AI to complete tasks that should reflect personal competencies (exams, individual reflections, or assessable practical assignments, etc.), unless expressly indicated by the teaching staff.
- Remember that improper use of AI may be considered academic fraud or dishonest academic conduct and will be handled according to the current disciplinary regulations of UVigo.
Below is an example of how to cite prompts and responses in APA format (7th edition). To cite AI-generated content, the following guideline is recommended:
In the reference list:
OpenAI. (2025). AI-generated response to the prompt: "Explain Ausubel’s theory of meaningful learning" [Generative AI]. ChatGPT. https://chat.openai.com/
In the text: (OpenAI, 2025). The prompt may also be included in an appendix or footnote if it is relevant for understanding the work.
