Other comments on the Evaluation

The evaluation system recommended for this course in advanced English is continuous assessment. The students should take part regularly anbd actively  in class tasks  and hand in  the works, exercises and presentations, required by the deadline established to the beginning of the course. The final comprehensive exam examination  and the presentations will take place in the last week of the course.

The students that fail the subject in the first edition of the transcripts will have to repeat and recuperate in July those parts they failed. The marks of the parts already passed will be kept and the percentages of the final grade will not vary. The procedure to recuperate the failed parts is:

  1. Works of classroom. They Will evaluate by means of a new proof with questions that collect the same competential goals and the same level of knowledge of the exercises and activities that were evaluated in the contact sessions.
  2. Presentations/exhibitions. The students will have to hand in their works again once the deficiencies and inaccuracies pointred out have been corrected. Each presentation will take place on a date agreed with the teaching staff.
  3. Autonomous practices on the TIC. They will recover by means of a questionnaire that include questions of the even type of the contained in the exercises online during it study.
  4. Multiple choice test. A new examination of the same characteristics of the first will be done
  5. Work and final project. The original composition will be corrected and handed in and the presentation repeated. 

Those students that can not fulfil the course requirements with the necessary regularity must explain the reason to the teaching staff at  the beginning of the contact sessions and will not do continuous assessment. For these people  there will exist a model of unique evaluation at the end of the semester consisting  of a global  and comprehensive exam on the contents and competencies of the course which will be marked according to the following percentages:

1) Grammar and use of the English (25% of the final mark), 2) Vocabulary and reading. (20% of the final mark), 3) Listening (15% of the final mark), 4) Writing (20% of the final mark), 5) Speaking (20% of the final qualification).

This examination will take place in the first week after the end of the contact sessions.

The students and students that fail this modality of unique evaluation in the first edition of the transcipts in May will have to repeat and pass in the second edition in July those parts that they failed. The marks of the parts they pass will be kept and the percentages of the final mark will not vary.

The students that do not show up for the continuous assessment or for the unique evaluation will have to do the exam in full in July and will receive the corresponding mark in the second edition of the transcripts.

The foreign students of exchange programs  with foreign universities that are interested in enrolling in this course must keep present that the text book and the complementary materials have been designed for  the preparation of the Cambridge Proficiency Exam and other similar C level  certificates. (C1-C-2).

The  total or partial plagiarmism in any kind of work or examination will suppose a zero in that part. Pledging ignorance of what plagiarism is will not exempt the students from their responsibility at this respect.

Assessment and marking  will take into account no only the relevance and quality of the answers but also their  linguistic correctness in all cases.

It is the responsibility of the students to access FAITIC  for materials and news. They must also be vigilant to learn about the definitive dates in which the exams and presentations will take place.
