Assessment

	Description	Qualification	Training and Learning Results
Problem solving	Students will have to solve different practical cases. The maximum qualification will be of 15% of the total mark (7,5% from each area of knowledge) The problem solving component is an integral part of the course and will provide hands-on experience. Students will analyze complex factual issues and write formal legal opinions or papers. Seminar work will be evaluated based on the quality of legal reasoning, data analysis, and the overall solution. Attendance and active participation in the seminar sessions are mandatory. Assignments will be given both in written form and online, and they will be submitted electronically. Late submissions will be subject to a penalty of 5% per day unless an extension has been granted based on extenuating circumstances. Detailed instructions, including the due dates, will be provided for each assignment. Active participation in class discussions, asking questions, and engaging with the material will be encouraged. This includes attendance, punctuality, and respectful interaction with peers and the instructor. Essay questions exam	There will be one final exam at the end of the semester, worth 40% of the final grade (20% of the area of Constitutional Law and 20% of the area of Public International Law). The exam will cover material from lectures, readings, and any additional resources provided. The format of the exam may include long-answer or essay questions as well as problem-solving questions. Dates for the exams will be announced by the Faculty Direction at the beginning of the academic year 2024-2025. Those students who opt for the system of continous evaluation, need to pass each part of the exam (i.e. Constitutional Law and Public International Law) so that the other marks of the continous evaluation can be added. Objective questions exam	There will be two test exams throughout the semester, each worth 15% of the final grade (one of Constitutional Law and one of Public International Law). Test exams will cover material from lectures, readings, and any additional resources provided. The format of the exams may include multiple-choice questions, right or wrong and so on. Dates for the exams will be announced at the beginning of the term by the professors. Essay	There will be two special assignments intended to focus on one or several legal concepts discussed in class and readings: the essay. The essays will be submitted both in written form and online. Late submissions will be subject to a penalty of 5% per day unless an extension has been granted based on extenuating circumstances. Other comments on the Evaluation
The teaching and evaluation of this subject is responsibility of two areas of knowledge: The area of Constitutional Law and the Area of Public International Law. The area of Public International Law will teach the lessons 1 and 2; 5 and 6; and 11- 13, that willl be developed in the first-half of the term in the Degree in Law and in the second-half in PCEO. The area of Constitutional Law will teach he lessons 3 and 4; 7-10 and 14; that will be delivered during the second-half of the term in the Degree in Law and in the first-half in the PCEO. Regarding the first two weeks of the term in the Degree in Law and the two first weeks of the PCEO, devoted to intensive theoretical classes, they will be delivered in the first place by the Area of Public International Law and then by the Area of Constitutional Law in the PCEO, and the other way round in the Degree in Law. EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR ATTENDEES. FIRST OPPORTUNITY OF EVALUATION. On the first day of class, students will be handed in an evaluation option sheet, in which they must choose between the continuous assessment system or the global evaluation system. They must return the completed sheet back to the professor no later than one month. Within the continuous evaluation system, in the first opportunity of evaluation, they will not be able to change to the modality of global evaluation. Students who opt for the continuous assessment will take the different tests described in the section on assessment throughout the course, i.e. two multiple-choice tests (3 points in total; 1.5 points for each area of knowledge), two papers that will be handed in to the professor (1.5 points in total; 0.75 points for each area of knowledge), as well as the resolution of practical cases that will be handed in to the lecturer and discussed in groups (1.5 points in total; 0.75 points for each area of knowledge). These assignements all together will count for a maximum of 6 points (three points for each area of knowledge, namely Constitutional Law and Public International Law). In addition, the student will take a final written exam that will be held on the date scheduled in the exam calendar of the faculty and which will be evaluated up to a maximum of 4 points (2 points in relation with each area of knowledge). The qualification of the continuous evaluation activities will only be added if the students pass both parts of the final exam, i.e. the part of Constitutional Law and Public International Law. EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR NON ATTENDEES. FIRST OPPORTUNIY OF EVALUATION Those students who do not follow the continuous evaluation, will be examined through the global evaluation modality, which will consist of two parts: a written exam with 4 questions of development (2 from each area of knowlege) as well as the resolution of 2 case studies from each area of knowledge. The written test will be graded up to a maximum of 8 points (4 points each part) and the resolution of the practical case up to a maximum of 2 points (1 point each part). The mark of the resolution of the practical case will only be added to that of the written exam as long as the students pass the 2 parts of the final theoretical exam. In any case, the competences and learning outcomes evaluated will be the same as in the system of evaluation for attendees. EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR 2nd OPPORTUNITY AND END OF CAREER EVALUATIONS 1.Students who, opting for the continuous evaluation system do not pass the subject at the first opportunity, will keep the grade they obtained in the continuous evaluation when taking the second opportunity (June/July exam and, if applicable, following academic year), previous petition to the professor, and having to do exclusively the theoretical part of the exam that will consist, as in the first opportunity, in questions to develop. 2. For those students who do not follow the continuous evaluation system, the evaluation system will be the one established in the Evaluation criteria for non-attendees in the first opportunity. 3. The exam corresponding to the End of Degree Call will be carried out in the same way as the final evaluation modality (evaluation criteria for non-attendees, first opportunity). The dates and times of the evaluation activities will be detailled in the exams calendar approved by the Board of the Faculty for the 2024-2025 academic year.
