This course aims to provide students with a set of basic conceptual tools related to the structure of the state’s political organization which—besides contributing to their general education and offering essential knowledge for other subjects—enable them to properly contextualize the phenomenon of public administrations from the perspective of political science in a multilevel environment, and to develop a critical understanding of everyday reality.
By way of illustration, we will seek to offer answers to questions such as: What is politics? When does political power enjoy legitimacy? What are the differences between parliamentarism and presidentialism, and what advantages and disadvantages does each present? What is a political party? How can we define democracy? How are communication instruments such as social media affecting it?
